To proactively lead all activities of the Material Planning and Logistics departments, to include all Logistics personnel via the Team leaders, Planners and the Material Schedulers. Responsible for ensuring the site’s MP&L team support the Production Operations on site with supply of all parts and plans and all the Customers receive the parts they require to the schedules and sequence messages they provide on time. Determine how much and what type of materials and products to held where in the supply chain, including managing inventory control, warehouse distribution and replenishment plans.
 

IF YOU ARE ENTHUSIASTIC ABOUT...

  • Keep control of expedited Freight costs ensuring these are minimised with action plans to achieve a target of £0 spend.
  • Manage all day to day activities regarding shipments, part availability for Operations, Planning and Material scheduling.
  • Manage planning and scheduling of plant operations to produce products meeting customer requirements whilst maximising profitability.
  • Anticipate customer requirements, maintaining excellent working relationships with customers including face to face meetings where necessary.
  • Integral part of the launch team with responsibility for Logistics aspects.
  • Lead the site Logistics, Materials Planners and Schedulers teams setting KPI’s and objectives, completing annual appraisals for direct reports.
  • Ensure that all developmental and cross functional training is ongoing to develop a flexible and versatile team.
  • Monitor all Logistics processes and progress for delivery of schedules to service customers.
  • Manage all Supply chain metrics on internal systems and publish to appropriate boards and meetings, implement supply chain improvement plans.
  • Ensure sufficient packaging both internal and external is available to ensure efficient production batches are maintained, manage any chargeable containers.
  • Ensure all agreed internal and finished goods buffers can be maintained.
  • Ensure Supplier base conformance to schedule to support the plant Operations team and escalate to Purchasing when necessary.
  • Measure Supplier performance and agree processes for emergency or out of process deliveries.
  • Facilitate communication of any significant disruption to either internal production running and anticipate any potential disruption to Customer and mitigate/resolve ensuring the level of escalation is appropriate to the disruption severity.
  • Devise internal measures of success between Logistics and Operations areas to drive improvement.
  • Monitor all Customer Performance data ensuring correct challenges are made when their perception of our performance does not align to our own (especially SPEEDY).
  • Participate in all capacity planning modelling and resolve any issues where they arise.
  • Monitor and police all data and transactional accuracy within areas of responsibility, participate in COGI resolution.
  • Ensure stores reservation process is followed for all consumable items.
  • Manage the Cycle Counting process supporting Stock Controller where necessary.
  • Ensure all obsolete and scrap parts are managed properly both on the system and physically.
  • Ensure stock accuracy is improved and then maintained and annual stock takes are managed successfully.
  • Monitor inventory levels and measure through an appropriate calculation, develop procedures which increase the rate of flow of materials through the plant minimising excess inventory costs.
  • Develop, implement and enforce controls, written policies and procedures to control all planning, scheduling and logistics activities.
  • Carry out any additional reasonable management request commensurate with this role.
  • Provide leadership to departments under control and manage, coach and develop direct reports and manage high performing teams that deliver continuous improvement, added value and cost reductions
  • Ensure strong communication between teams under leadership to facilitate exchange of information and in order to implement change and improvements
  • Ensure that all functions under supervision operate in accordance with health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety of staff and visitors
  • Responsible for developing the appropriate organisational structure, resource plans and culture to support the business objectives and customer deliverables
  • Provide leadership, coordination and coaching to the team, ensuring they are trained enabling them to achieve the operational and KPI metrics within their areas of responsibility and succeed in their roles
  • Complete regular performance reviews, manage attendance, holidays, disciplinary issues and procedures as appropriate
  • Oversee and optimise costs in relation to packaging and shipping arrangements

...AND POSSESS THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS?

  • A Levels, ONC, City & Guilds level 3, Btec National Diploma Level 3, IVQ Technician Diploma, or equivalent NVQ level 3
  • Experience of operating in a supervisory capacity within a fast paced, highly pressurised warehouse and distribution environment
  • Strong people and performance management skills
  • Continuous improvement and problem-solving techniques
  • Ability to sustain and develop team working and team based problem solving
  • Excellent Communication Skills and ability to build strong working relationships
  • High level of numerical and analytical ability
  • Full understanding of customer expectations and deliverables with an awareness of the impact of failure/cost of poor quality
  • Self-aware, resilient, assertive, optimistic and open to change with a flexible approach
