Plant based Supply Chain Leader
In recent weeks we have been reviewing our operating structures to deliver the performance required to achieve operational efficiencies required of our business.
Customer feedback this year have escalated concerns about our performance and ability to consistently deliver current and future programmes on time and to budget.
In order for Polytec to deliver on our customer commitments whilst maintaining the required performance a step change is required in our approach.
We are therefore looing to recruit Supply Chain Leads in each of our three plants.
Requirements for these roles will be.
- Capable business leaders with set and agreed KPI’s driving the business forward.
- Stock control and management matching a 2026 automotive sequence business.
- Higher business management security.
- Develop ways of working and new methods such which may include an AI strategy.

To take full ownership of all activities within the Material Planning and Logistics (MP&L) functions, ensuring seamless coordination across Logistics, Planning, and Scheduling teams. The Supply Chain Lead is expected to be the driving force behind operational excellence, ensuring that all customer and production requirements are met with precision and timeliness. This role demands proactive problem-solving, decisive action, and continuous improvement in inventory control, distribution, and replenishment processes. The individual will act as the primary escalation point for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring issues are resolved swiftly and effectively, with clear accountability and follow-through.

- Take full responsibility for achieving 100% on-time and complete delivery performance to both internal and external customers – Sequence supply (Buffer target), Direct Ship (Box parts), GRU (Bespoke) and Aftermarket for Bentley.
- Own and manage the relationship with the 4PL logistics provider AMCO, acting as the first point of contact for all escalations and ensuring seamless kitting and delivery from AMCO to the Bridgnorth site.
- Own and actively reduce expedited freight costs, implementing robust action plans and root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
- Lead and oversee all logistics operations, ensuring timely shipments and material availability to support production.
- Drive planning and scheduling activities to meet customer demand while optimising plant profitability.
- Anticipate customer needs and maintain strong, proactive relationships, including direct engagement where necessary.
- Represent logistics in all new product launches, ensuring readiness and alignment with operational goals.
- Set clear KPIs and objectives for the Logistics, Planning, and Scheduling teams, conducting annual appraisals and performance reviews.
- Ensure ongoing development and cross-training to build a flexible, high-performing team.
- Monitor and improve logistics processes to ensure schedule adherence and customer satisfaction.
- Own and report all supply chain metrics, driving improvement initiatives and ensuring visibility across the business.
- Ensure packaging availability and manage chargeable containers to support efficient production.
- Maintain agreed inventory buffers and ensure supplier adherence to schedules, escalating issues appropriately.
- Measure and improve supplier performance, establishing clear protocols for emergency deliveries.
- Lead communication and resolution of any disruptions to production or customer delivery, ensuring timely escalation and mitigation.
- Define and track internal success metrics between Logistics and Operations to drive continuous improvement.
- Monitor customer performance data and ensure alignment with internal metrics, with a focus on full compliance with IATF and VDA audit requirements.
- Participate in capacity planning and resolve any arising issues with urgency and ownership.
- Ensure data accuracy across all logistics functions, including resolution of COGI issues.
- Enforce Logistics processes and manage cycle counting with full adherence and problem resolution.
- Manage obsolete and monitor scrap parts both physically and within systems, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
- Drive improvements in stock accuracy and lead successful annual stock takes.
- Monitor inventory levels and implement procedures to optimise material flow and reduce excess costs.
- Develop and enforce robust policies and procedures governing all planning, scheduling, and logistics activities.
- Provide strong leadership, coaching, and development to direct reports, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Ensure effective communication across teams to support change and drive operational enhancements.
- Align all functions with health, safety, and environmental standards, ensuring compliance and staff wellbeing.
- Build and maintain an organisational structure and culture that supports business objectives and customer expectations.
- Ensure team members are trained and equipped to meet operational goals and KPIs.
- Manage attendance, holidays, and disciplinary matters with professionalism and consistency.
